The label design component provides an easy to use WYSIWYG environment for designing and formatting the presentation of the bar code label.  Bar Code Printer Manufacturers such as Zebra Technologies or Intermec Technologies provide Bar Code Software which is geared towards optimizing the label design and execution for a particular line of printers.  Third Party Bar Code Software products from organizations such as Nice Label  or Seagull Scientific provide a robust design environment which handles multiple printer languages.  Benefits of this approach can be achieved in the area of RFID encoding, foreign language support, Unicode support, etc.

Various levels of Host Integration, Connectivity, Printer Execution and Management tools are provided by many bar code printing software providers.  These tools are designed to be configured to provide either a stand alone, middleware sub-system or can be directly integrated into your printing execution environment.  In all cases, the Bar Code Printing Software becomes an application run-time component that is responsible for the execution and verification of a print job.  Depending on your HOST application environment and the complexity of your printing requirements, the deployment of a run-time component from your bar code printing software vendor may or may not provide the most optimum solution.
